How do we expect families to suddenly start cooking when they were brought up not cooking. I don’t think that labelling calories of food items will solve the health crisis we’re facing but … I do think that labelling calories can help consumers make better decisions about their food based on increased knowledge for the times that they do choose to eat out.

A recent study in Beijing announced that air pollution was related to increasing obesity rates in rats. Although this is alarming, the real question is, “Does this mean humans are gaining weight from air pollution?”.

This study doesn’t answer that question and for now the answer remains what it has been. Obesity is a multifactorial and complex disease, we know that living in today’s obesogenic environment paired with genetics, lifestyle and dietary habits are all possible contributing factors for obesity in humans.
