Feed the Truth is a new developing organization that is truly exciting. After a $5 million donation with financial promise to donate another $20 million FTT may just be the game changer for the nutrition industry has been looking for.
FTT is a nonprofit organization that will focus on food industry influence of public health by “revealing and countering” said influence. It is the brainchild of Daniel Lubetsky, the CEO of Kind. Remember the Kind bar scandal? The FDA struck Kind hard after stating they weren’t allowed to call the bars, healthy.
Mr. Lubetzky has pledged $25 million over a ten-year span and has promised that he will also step away from the organization and leave three MAJOR players in charge (board of directors).
Who is he leaving in charge of an organization that will supposedly be standing up for science and nutrition research transparency?
Marion Nestle- Dietitian, author, policy advocate and outspoken expert on food politics.
Debra Eschmeyer- A fifth generation farmer , advocate and previous executive director of Let’s Move! and White House senior advisor for nutrition policy.
Michael Jacobson-Co-founder and President of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, a nonprofit health advocacy organization and author.
Initially the whole thing sounded like more food industry funded research but with Lubetsky stepping back and the trio of advocates stepping up Feed the Truth could be a powerful, groundbreaking, and successful organization.
