As I settle into winter the crisp air makes me crave warming meals again. I find it takes some time to get back into hearty cooking after a warm Summer so I’ve compiled a list of quick, cozy meals for that brisk Winter day or for your rainy/snowy day blues.
Chili just got a whole lot better. Have you tried to mix it up by making a creamier version and adding pulled chicken, 1 cup of frozen corn and 1/2 cup of milk? If that isn’t for you try the original dish topped with a sharp cheddar cheese and guacamole.
Curry heats the house and your body. Let the Indian or Thai spices warm you while you dig in and eat with your hands after a long day. Check out my curry recipe here. Once you’ve made the curry save some leftovers and try CURRY POUTINE!!
Potato and corn chowder or other Cream soups are filling and warm on a cold day.
Roasts are great on a chilled day. The oven heats up the kitchen as the scent of gravy warmly fills the house. Serve a classic roast with gravy, frozen beans and carrots and a garlic mashed potato (replace half the potatoes with cauliflower if you’re minding your carbs)
Bobotie is a traditional South African dish made with curry spices sure to give you some heat!
